Freida C. Sharpe, 90, of Matawan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Monday, Sept. 14. She was born Freida Crowther on July 8, 1925 in Skowhegan, Maine. She grew up in Madison, Maine and raised her family in the Belgrade Lakes region of Maine. In 2000, she relocated to San Antonio, Texas and in 2012, she ultimately settled in Matawan. While living in Maine, Freida worked and retired from the Department of Transportation.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gladys (Wilson) and Ernest M. Crowther, and her dear brothers Erlon and Bob. Freida is survived by her loving children, Sidney Sharpe and his wife Sandy of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Allan C. Sharpe and his wife Gayle of Matawan, and Neal Sharpe and his wife Pamela of Theresa, New York, along with her cherished grandchildren, Kimia, Michael, Stuart, Patrick, Gregory, Kathlene, Matthew, Jonathan and Abigail, her 10 adored great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Freida is remembered as a vibrant, talented woman and loving mother. Her musical interests included the piano, ukulele, hammered dulcimer and a violin handcrafted by her father. Her stained glass productions and basket weavings decorate all our houses. She had an especially gifted hand with artwork and loved to square dance.
She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Family and friends attended funeral services Sept. 15 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hazlet.
