LINCROFT –The 3rd annual Walk the Walk with Kevin Kret will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Christian Brothers Academy on Newman Springs Road.
Registration for the walk will begin at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s theme is: “We Still Believe … Walk the Walk with Kevin Kret.”
Kevin, a Middletown resident, was severely injured July 31, 2009, during a skateboarding accident.
The organization is hoping this year’s event is its most successful yet.
Kevin’s dad, Mike Kret, is planning to bring the actual technology and the doctors behind it to demonstrate how far Kevin has advanced in this new world of technology and science. Dr. Philip DeFina of International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF) is expected to attend.

The goal of the walk is to raise awareness for the importance of the use of helmets, provide hope to other families that are in the same situation of having a loved one in a “unconscious state” and to provide funds to continue the technological and scientific treatment for Kevin with IBRF.
This year credit card donations can be made online on behalf of Kevin’s treatment at www.ibrfinc.org/support.htm. Donors must write “Kret Walk” in the comment box so Kevin gets the donation toward his treatment.
“We are coming up on three years since Kevin Kret’s skateboarding accident that left him in a coma,” wrote Kevin’s parents, Mike and Joan Kret. “How far we have come, but still there is a long way to go. Through donations from our friends, family and some caring individuals whom we have never met, and working with the International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF), we have been able to get Kevin the most advanced treatments available for severe disorders of consciousness.
“Through donations we have been able to purchase equipment that allows Kevin to stand and ride a passive cycle to keep his body in shape while we wait for God with the help of advances in science to bring Kevin back to us once again. There are a number of promising advances on the horizon,” the Krets wrote.
