ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS  – FilmOneFest will presents the New Jersey premiere of “Red Army” at 2 p.m. Sunday at Atlantic Cinema, 82 First Ave.
The Sony Pictures Classics documentary was recently screened – to great reviews – as an official entry at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at FilmOneFest.org, at The Painted Frame, or at the door.
The Atlantic Highlands Arts council will be collecting donations for the Atlantic Highlands Food Pantry so attendees are asked to bring canned goods and supplies to the theater.
“Red Army” is about the Soviet Union and the most successful dynasty in sports history: the Red Army hockey team. Told from the perspective of its captain, Slava Fetisov, the film shows the betrayals that led to his transformation from national hero to political enemy.
“Red Army” also examines the rise and fall of the Red Army team with that of the Soviet Union. The film offers an inspiring story about a man who faced off against a powerful political system and paved the way for change for generations of Russians. Movie is rated PG and runs 1 hour, 16 minutes.
