50th Wedding Anniversary: Jim and Carol Quirk

James F. and Carol Ann (Christopher) Quirk of Rumson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 20.
The couple was married Aug. 20, 1966 by the Rev. Thomas C. McNally at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Long Branch. Parents of the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Paul John Christopher, West Long Branch, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Quirk, Long Branch. Their attendants were Miss Joann Manzi, West Long Branch, maid of honor; Miss Patricia Donohoe, Long Branch; Mrs. Carmen Sciarrabone, Belmar; Mrs. Joseph Sirianni, Oceanport and Mrs. Greg Christopher, West Long Branch. Frederick Rullo, Charlotte, North Carolina, was best man. Ushers were Paul Christopher Jr., brother of the bride, West Long Branch; Leon Dombrowski and Thomas Evans, both of Wilmington, Delaware, and J. Ronald Giordano, Collingswood. A reception took place at the Cobblestones, Middletown, and the couple’s honeymoon was in Nantucket Island, Massachusetts.

James worked as an international government securities salesman, retiring after more than 30 years, as well as an on field official in the National Football League for 21 years. He now acts the executive director for the National Football League Referees’ Association.
The Quirks have three children: James C. of Holmdel, Christine M. (Scalera), of Longwood, Florida, and Thomas F. of Capistrano Beach, California. The couple also has five granddaughters.
