Patrick Joseph “PJ” Bartolomeo, 79, of Holmdel, died on Saturday, August 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. He was born in Staten Island, New York, and resided in Holmdel since 1990. He proudly served his country in the US. Army, 1st Calvary Division in Korea.
Patrick worked on Wall Street, as well as Seton Hall University, Bayshore Hospital, Michael Lori Bus Co. and recently Unlimited Auto Co. He was a proud firefighter for both Hazlet and Holmdel fire companies. He held the position of recording secretary for 20 years and president; police captain for Holmdel Fire Co.; and vice president for 19 years. He was a past president of the Monmouth County Fire Association; a member of “Cert” OEM of Holmdel and Holmdel Half Century Club. Patrick was very proud of and dedicated to the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of council #11349. He was a past Grand Knight of the St. Benedict Council; faithful navigator; chapter president of Monmouth County; district deputy #22 of Monmouth County; president of Diocesan Federation; treasurer to St. Joseph Assembly; as well as Knights of Columbus member council #679. He affectionately served as Santa Claus at various events for many years.
Patrick was predeceased by his beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara; and his siblings, Phyllis, Lee, Angela, Sylvia and Mario. Surviving are his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Karen Ledwitz-Bartolomeo; adoring grandchildren, Lila and Preston; sister and brother-in-law, Grace and John Ferretti; best friend, Paula Csantaveri; and many loving nieces and nephews.
