Alvin Nye Murphy Jr., 76, of Bangor, Pennsylvania, passed away Oct. 4 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown.
Alvin was born Oct. 25, 1942 in Elizabeth, a son of the late Isabella and Alvin Murphy Sr. He grew up in Roselle and moved to South Amboy in 1970. He retired to Pennsylvania four years ago.
Alvin was a tool and die maker at Highland Metal Products in Roselle. He was a former member of the South Amboy Volunteer Fire Company. Alvin enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was out hunting for birds or just spending time camping. He also loved animals and had many pets through the years.
Alvin was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Eileen Murphy in 2006. He is survived by their son Scott Murphy of Bangor. Alvin also leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Isabelle and Frank Engelhardt of Mays Landing.
Friends and relatives paid their respects Oct. 7 and 8, followed by a funeral service at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. The burial and committal followed at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
