
Robert C. Devereaux, 61, of Belford, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 8. Robert was born and raised in Elizabeth, a son of the late Dolores and James Devereaux. He settled in Belford 24 years ago. Bob worked as a contractor for the Environmental Protection Agency in Edison for the past 29 years. Bob loved his job and the friends he made there.
He was a kind, caring and helpful person. He was a beloved friend and neighbor. Bob would lend a hand wherever needed. He enjoyed fixing things and always seemed to have the perfect tool for any project. He could often be found working on a car, or a project around the house.
Bob also had a love for dogs. Over the years he has rescued several dogs from the shelter, most recently his dog Cantaloupe, who will miss him dearly and their walks around the neighborhood.
Robert is survived by his beloved sisters, Margaret DeRose, Ann Marie Vaniska and Denise Wah. He also leaves behind a brother Andrew and many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Michael and James.
Friends and relatives paid their respects Aug. 14 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. A funeral service concluded the afternoon and a private cremation followed.
