Eugene George Stanek

Eugene George Stanek of Atlantic Highlands passed away at home July 29 at the age of 72. He was born in Point Pleasant Beach to the late George and Eleanor Stanek.

Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He lived in Oceanport as a child before moving to Atlantic Highlands as a teenager. He worked as a chemist for Cytec Industries for 37 years before retiring. Gene enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching the Mets and visiting national parks, especially Yellowstone. Most of all, he loved spending time with his granddaughters.

Gene is survived by his wife of 46 years Janet Stanek, his daughter Stacy and her husband George Conway and his granddaughters, Auden, Rylynn and Fallan. He is also survived by his brothers, Eric Brooks (Tracey) and Robert Brooks (Carol); his sisters, Barbara Janeczko and Linda Loring; his sisters-in-law, Kathleen Brooks, Phyllis Tull (Bill) and Kim Phillips (Ernie); as well as an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due to the current pandemic situation, a private family viewing and burial took place. Arrangements were entrusted to Posten-McGinley Funeral Home, Atlantic Highlands.
