Virginia “Ginny” Kerr of Lincroft died at home July 18, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John “Jack” Kerr, her parents Florence and Jaffee Venuto and her brother Michael. She was also the widow of Ralph Sarcone.

She is survived by her four children, Norah Kerr-McCurry (Jack), John Kerr (Tina), Sheila Kerr-Ryan (Peter) and Catherine King (Rob); a brother Richard Venuto (Susan); nine grandchildren, Thomas Gray (Kate), Brian Kerr (Lauren), Peter Kerr, Brandon King, John Kerr, Jenna Ryan, Karleigh Coskey (Grant), Kaden King and Abby Kerr; five nieces and nephews; five great-grandchildren, Decklyn and McKenna Kerr, Finley and Isla Gray, and Sailor Coskey; and her beloved pets, Misty and Valentino.

For many years, Ginny served as organist at St. Charles Church and as choir director at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Staten Island. She was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great Church in Lincroft.

Ginny earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology from Richmond College, Staten Island, New York, and taught at Port Richmond and St. Joseph-by-the-Sea High School before moving to New Jersey. She retired as a chemistry teacher from Middletown High School North after 25 years; she also taught as an adjunct instructor of mathematics at Brookdale Community College for 25 years. Mrs. Kerr touched the lives of many students because she cared about them as individuals and shared with them her love of learning. 

Ginny will be missed by her family and friends for her generosity, humor and strength. She was a great mother and friend and improved the lives of everyone who knew her.

Visitation was held July 22 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered July 23 at St. Leo the Great Church, Lincroft. Interment followed at Fair View Cemetery, Red Bank.
