Margaret Ann Scott (née Patterson), 91, peacefully departed this life July 30, 2021, surrounded by family. Born Dec. 12, 1929, Margaret – known as Peg – was the daughter of Abram and Margaret Patterson. She grew up on a farm in Mount Holly and then her family moved to Middletown when she was in high school. A graduate of Leonardo High School, she met and married Arthur C. “Scotty” Scott, a Middletown Police Captain, July 16, 1950. They were married for 60 years and raised five children, two boys and three girls.

Peg enjoyed many activities like bowling, skiing, golfing, gardening, reading, playing card games and traveling, but mostly she loved caring for her family. A great lover of dogs and babies, she would always make a point to take time to talk to babies and small children. Her love of children led her to work as a crossing guard in Middletown for many years.

Peg and Scotty moved to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, after retirement and lived many happy years in their beautiful home on the lake. They traveled in their RV visiting family and friends and spending winter months in warmer climates. Peg and Scotty were devoted to their two Yorkshire terriers, first Muffin and then Minnie.

After the death of her husband Scotty, Peg moved back to Middletown to live with her daughter Mary and No. 1 son-in-law Mike. Granny, as she became known, spent many happy years watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and loved nothing more than getting to hold newborn babies. She still traveled to visit family and really enjoyed the winter months spent in the Florida Keys.

Peg was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Scott, her daughter Margaret Morin, and her son Charles Scott. She is survived by her three remaining children, Arthur Scott and wife Susan, Mary McCauley and husband Mike, and Barbara Blume and husband Ron. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Kimberly Snyder, Charles Scott, Michael McCauley, Melissa Luton, Matthew McCauley, Thomas Morin, Ashley Pompliano, Laura Noonan, Leslie Laird, Leia Scott, Jessica Blume and Jared Blume, as well as 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Aug. 3 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral Mass was held Aug. 4 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Peg’s favorite charity) at stjude.org.
