Ian Alistair Oliver, 31, passed away from diabetic shock Dec. 15, 2021, in Burlington, Vermont, with his loving mother and stepfather by his side.

Ian was born April 30, 1990, in Sleepy Hollow, New York, to Ouida and Scott Oliver. He grew up in Middletown and graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in 2008. Ian then attended the University of Vermont and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts. He also received the distinguished Renaissance Award at graduation from the Performing Arts Department. He was a lifelong performer, producer, actor, artist, dancer and singer.

Ian was an avid lacrosse and baseball player, president of RBC Ski Club, and member of the Performing Arts Club. He performed in countless plays and musicals.

After college, Ian pursued his passion and moved to Chicago where he performed and produced music for seven years.

Ian is survived by his mother Ouida Oliver and Christopher Stone of Middletown, his father Scott Oliver of Guatemala, and his sister Catherine Oliver of Denver, Colorado. He also leaves behind his devoted chocolate lab Duchess St. Lawrence, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly.

Ian was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Roger Tharpe of Central Square, New York, and paternal grandparents, Ronald and Marion Oliver of London.

Ian had a warm heart, beautiful smile, kind soul and was a compassionate friend to many, especially his sister Catherine (Cat). He will be greatly missed.

Viewing and visitation for Ian will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. 

A funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. Dec. 27 at Mary Mother of God Church in Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ian’s name to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org/donate or 800-DIABETES (342-2383).
