Rudolph J. Mikson, 97, of Holmdel, passed away April 22, 2022. Rudy was born Nov. 11, 1924, on Staten Island, a son of the late Gladys and Rudolph M. Mikson. After graduating from St. Peter’s Boys High School on Staten Island, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served overseas during World War II. He participated in an Army education program and attended Biarritz American University in France, then returned home to finish his degree in business at Wagner College.
He married the love of his life, Rosemarie Falkner, May 14, 1950. In 1957 they built their dream home in Holmdel to raise their family. Rudy started his career in Elizabeth at the Singer Manufacturing Co. then went to work for the General Cable Corporation in Connecticut where he retired as an inventory control manager in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Parish where he ushered for 15 years and was a past chairman of the school board committee. Rudy enjoyed travelling with his wife. Some of his favorite tours included Jerusalem, Israel and the pyramids in Egypt. Closer to home, he enjoyed the overnight trips his wife helped plan and manage with the Holmdel Half Century Club.
Rudy is survived by his wife of nearly 72 years, Rosemarie Mikson, and their two sons, Rudy Mikson Jr. of Florida and Scott (Sue) Mikson of Union Beach. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Brian, Sara, Kyle, Gabrielle and Scott and five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Tyler, Dylan, Rylee and Makayla.
Rudy was predeceased by his infant son Gregory, his son Geoffrey in 2018, his brother Walter Mikson and sister Dorothy Capelli.
Friends and relatives may pay respects from 10 to 11 a.m. May 5 with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. The burial will follow at Holmdel Cemetery.
