Brian Hecht died June 24, 2022, two days after his 51st birthday, surrounded by his family. He had recently weathered serious medical challenges. He is survived by his mother Joan Hecht, father Stephen Hecht, stepmother Barbara Boas, brother Gordon Hecht, sister-in-law Michele Hecht, sister Emily Hecht-McGowan, sister-in-law Sharon McGowan, as well as his nieces and nephew, Adrienne, Kenneth, Sadie and Shaia.
Despite his recent extended illness, Brian was, for most of his days, a happy, gentle soul who endeared himself to those around him. He was lovingly cared for by staff and administration of New Jersey Institute for Disabilities in Group Home 3 in Old Bridge and Adult Training Center 1 in Port Reading.
Brian’s life was characterized by living fully in the moment, always appreciating those who would sing to him or play almost any kind of music. When Brian was happy, he let you know, and in those thankfully few times when he was uncomfortable, he allowed you to comfort him.
He was dearly loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
