On July 7, 2022, the world lost a great character. Patricia (Trisha) Zinn, affectionately known as “Granzy,” passed away after a courageous cancer battle, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Yonkers, New York, and lived the majority of her adult life in Shrewsbury. She spent the last year and a half in Los Angeles with her kids and grandkids.

Granzy was a loving mother and grandmother with endless generosity. She was a loyal friend and thought of those closest to her as her “chosen” family.

Trisha loved to share stories, bead jewelry, play board games, cook her signature dishes, and spend quality time with loved ones. She also loved a good party, St. Patrick’s Day, time at Squantz Pond, and the natural habitat on Sunnybank Drive. Volunteering at the cancer support community and hosting beading and reiki classes, provided her great fulfillment.

Granzy unapologetically navigated the world on her own terms. She accomplished a great deal in her lifetime, but the legacy she really wanted to leave was to remind everyone of this: Compassion has power. Kindness and understanding are crucial. She challenged us to live accordingly. Say “thank you,” practice gratitude and enjoy the simple moments each day… Smell the roses, note the exact shade of blue sky and watch the beautiful sunrise and sunset. Smile and laugh more often about something (or nothing) and share your true essence and LOVE with others.

Trisha was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Mary (McSpedon) Jenkins and her husband, Walter Zinn. She leaves behind her children, Laurel (BJ) and Terry (Jennifer), and beloved grandchildren, Porter, Watson, Bowen, Beckett and Doanie.

Granzy leaves us with 75 years of colorful stories, endless treasures and a presence we will cherish forever and miss always.

A celebration of life will be held July 22. Contact the family for details.
