Barbara Ann Truair, 74, a lifelong resident of Port Monmouth, passed away Dec. 8, 2022. Barbara was born in Long Branch March 25, 1948, a daughter of the late Jeanne and Elmer Yager. After marrying in 1968, she and her husband Bob bought a house on the same block where she grew up, to raise their own family.

After a long career with the New Jersey Highway Authority, Barbara retired in 2001 to enjoy her golden years with her grandchildren.

Barbara was a member of the Port Monmouth Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping and cooking, and usually made more than enough food to feed an army of people. She also enjoyed traveling. She looked forward to her annual anniversary trip to Aruba with her husband Bob.

Most of all, Barbara loved to help others and she especially loved to spoil her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed during family game night.

Barbara will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Robert Truair Sr., this past May. She is survived by their six children: Barbara Ann Truair, Sharon (Ken) Herceg, Christy Truair, Jessica (Dave) Brandzel, Andrea (Neal) Polycandriotis, and Robert (Gina) Truair Jr. She also leaves behind her four siblings, Elmer (the late Debbie) Yager, Theresa (Bill) Barry, Margaret Rozens, and Katherine (Bill) Straniero, along with 12 grandchildren: Cheyann, Robert, Josie, Hunter, Scott Jr., Jamie, Danny, Nikko, Robbie, Gabby, Brianna and Nicholas, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives paid their respects Dec. 11 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals; a funeral service concluded the afternoon and a private cremation followed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude’s Hospital, PO Box 187 Memphis, TN 38101 stjude.org or the Monmouth County SPCA at monmouthcountyspca.org.
