Joan Marie O’Neill

Joan Marie O’Neill of Navesink, formerly of Port Monmouth, passed away Dec. 31, 2022. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt and daughter. She loved her family immensely and was an incredibly generous mom, dedicating and devoting her time to her family. Joan was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Joan was a member of the Navesink Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years and started the annual Navesink Halloween parade 40 years ago. She volunteered for many neighborhood activities, from the annual fireman’s fair, Halloween parade and Easter egg hunt to den mother for her son’s Cub Scouts. She was always a supportive mom for her children; family meant everything. 

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Marie and Arthur Runge, sister Jackie Ryan and brother Arthur Runge Jr. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Thomas H. O’Neill, and her cherished children, Erinn O’Neill, Meghan O’Neill and Tommy O’Neill. She is also survived by her aunt Bette Runge and niece Bethany Ryan, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Friends and relatives paid their respects Jan. 3 and 4, with a funeral service Jan. 4 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, Belford. Burial and committal followed at Fairview Cemetery.
