Virginia MacKenn née Carley, 95, formerly of Middletown, passed away Jan. 2, 2023, at Hackensack Meridian Nursing and Rehab of Shrewsbury. Born in Elizabeth, she was a resident of Middletown before recently moving to Shrewsbury.

Mrs. MacKenn was a 1946 graduate of Abraham Clark High School in Roselle and Mountainside Hospital Nursing School Class of 1950. She worked at Perth Amboy General, Elizabeth General, and Riverview hospitals. She retired as assistant director of nursing at Atlantic Highlands Nursing Home after over 20 years of service. As a Registered Nurse, she also worked as a nanny for a very few lucky families in Florida and Arizona.

Daughter of the late John Martin Carley and Margaret née Winder, she was also predeceased by her husband Charles Wesley MacKenn in 1985 and all 10 siblings: Elizabeth (Betty), Margaret (Peg Peg), Dorothy (Dottie), Jaqueline (Jackie), Katherine (Katie), John Joseph, twin sisters Eileen and Barbara, Joseph John (Joey), and Margaret (Margie). She was also predeceased by her two eldest children, Charles Wesley MacKenn and Dennis James MacKenn.

Her surviving children are William Keith MacKenn, Rebekah S. Daniels (Susan), Thomas AJ MacKenn, and Mary Ann Booth. She is also survived by her 18 grandchildren, Kelly, Heather, Corey, Keith, Holly, Christy, DJ, Jake, Bobby, Elizabeth, Alexa, Amy, Christopher, Cody, Thomas Anthony, Julian Michael, Emily Rose and James Paul, as well as multiple great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She also had a very special daughter-in-law Colleen, a god daughter/niece Gina, and a nephew Brian and his wife Rosanne who had very special places in her heart.

A funeral liturgy was offered Jan. 9 at Mary, Mother of God Church, Middletown. Interment followed at Forest Green Park Cemetery in Morganville.
