Michael L. “Mickey” Carotenuto Sr., devoted husband of Jeanne Scriffignano Carotenuto and beloved father of three, has died. He will be deeply missed.

Mickey was born June 22, 1950, in Red Bank, and spent his entire life in Middletown. He graduated from Mater Dei High School and attended Quincy College in Illinois. Mickey became a master plumber and maintained a successful plumbing business until his retirement in 2015.

Mickey cherished time with his family and truly appreciated the simple things in life. He loved family vacations in Maine, hiking in the mountains, Yankees baseball, and a good cup of coffee any time of the day.

Mickey was a dedicated Little League coach in Middletown for over a decade and never missed an opportunity to buy victory hot dogs for the team.

Mickey was predeceased by his parents, Michael J. and Ida Carotenuto, and his sister Diane.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Jeanne, daughters Kristin Carotenuto and Jennifer Jezequel, son-in-law Jonathan Jezequel, son Michael L. Carotenuto Jr. and his wife Caitlin, and sister Donna Carotenuto.

Arrangements are under the care of Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Visitation was held Jan. 6; a funeral Mass was held Jan. 7 at at Mary, Mother of God Church, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Michael to We Care Adult Care, Inc. in Red Bank or the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
