Edward Gaines, age 63, of Colts Neck, passed away peacefully at home Aug. 24, 2023.
A respected dentist, he graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1981 and from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in 1985. Ed loved caring for his patients and looked at them and his staff as extended family and friends. He had a warm and welcoming personality and enjoyed spending time with those he loved.
An avid sports fan, he was a season ticket holder for the New York Giants and also rooted for the Yankees and the Knicks. Some of his hobbies included sailing, skiing, golfing, gardening and playing the guitar.
He was the beloved husband of Lori (Lappen) Gaines for 36 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Benjamin, Amanda and Andrew Gaines of Colts Neck; his parents Edward Donald and Floretta Gaines; his sister Tamra Russo and brother Michael Gaines; and brothers-in-law Leonard Russo and Jeffrey Lappen and sisters-in-law Kimberly Gaines and Lisa Gibbons Lappen. He also leaves his nieces Justine Gaines and Gillian Russo and nephew Daniel Gaines.
Visitation took place Aug. 29 at Holmdel Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Aug. 30 at the Parish of St. Mary, Colts Neck. Burial followed at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro.
