Jean Soldo née Hausleiter, 84, of Leonardo, died Aug. 27, 2023, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. She was born in Elizabeth and lived in Linden before settling in Leonardo to raise her family.
Jean worked at Shop-Rite when her children were young, then worked as a hostess at Fisherman’s Wharf in Rumson. In later years, Jean taught CCD at Our Lady of Perpetual Help-St. Agnes Parish in Atlantic Highlands.
As a history buff, Jean did extensive research into her heritage and was very proud to have descended from many European cultures from Scotland to France. Her favorite historical figure was Mary, Queen of Scots.
Surviving are her husband Saverio (Sam) Soldo; her three sons, Patrick Soldo and his husband Roger Pasquariello, Jeffrey Soldo, and Tony Soldo and his wife Wendy; her granddaughter Cassandra Soldo; her step-granddaughter Tiffany O’Brien; and Jean’s brother, Robert Hausleiter.
Jean was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Gennie Hausleiter.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1 at Our Landy of Perpetual Help-St. Agnes Church, 103 Center Ave., Atlantic Highlands. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery & Mausoleum, Holmdel.
