Daniel J. Scarpone Jr., 82, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at home Oct. 28, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born in Newark to the late Daniel J. Sr. and Grace Scarpone.
Daniel was a crane operator and proud member of Operating Engineers Local 825. He loved boating, fishing, puttering and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Daniel was predeceased by two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Gene Vernol and Ralph Buenaga (Joan).
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie A. Scarpone née Vernol; four children, Michael Eigenrauch (Ashli), Geoffery Eigenrauch (Julie), Dawn Lehotsky (Tim) and Danielle Farley (Paul); two sisters, MaryAnn Lloyd (Tom) and Carol Jagielski (Bruce); 11 grandchildren, Savannah, Kayleigh, Beau, Emerson Anne, Finn, Alexandra, Lily, Sydney, Samantha, Justin and Paige; three sisters-in-law, Kay Vernol, Alice Condina (Joseph) and Monica Saldarini (Glenn); and a brother-in-law Francis Vernol (Diane).
There will be a memorial gathering from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Red Bank.
