Michael J. Behan Jr., 63, from Middletown, passed away Dec. 11, 2023, at Riverview Medical Center. Michael proudly grew up on the “wet side” of Belford before moving to Port Monmouth.

After high school, Michael joined the U.S. Navy as a petty officer 1st class. He made several lifelong friends in the Navy.

Michael loved spending time with his children, telling his childhood stories to everyone around him, and singing every chance he could get, even though it was off-tune. He loved his job as a sales associate at The Home Depot in Old Bridge where he was well-known by co-workers and customers. Everyone who knew him knew he had the best stories, the best sense of humor and the best laugh.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael Sr. and Mary, and brother-in-law Steve Lang.

He is survived by his wife Christina; his children, Michael Joseph III and his fiancé Rebecca, Caitlin aka “Missy,” Meghan Conn (Brandon), and his son Ryan; his siblings, Maureen Lang and Kevin Behan (Patti); grandchildren, Chalista, Keith, Katarina and Ullium; many nieces and nephews; and his grandpuppy Luna, whom he loved so much.

Services were held Dec. 15 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service was held Dec. 16 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, honor or memorial acknowledgment donations may be made in Michael’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
