James L. Massa, 84, of Freehold, passed away peacefully Dec. 29, 2023.

Born in Brooklyn, Jim was a police officer with the New York Police Department.

He was an avid Jets and Mets fan. Jim enjoyed watching classic movies and old TV and game shows in his recliner. He had a love of dogs and a good Macallan Manhattan. 

Jim’s true love was his family.

He was predeceased by his wife Arlene. Surviving are his children, James and Christine Massa, Marion and Chuck Kamens, Annette Massa and Kelly Laino; his brother and sister-in-law Lawrence and Margie Massa; his grandchildren, Jamielee, Robert, Lindsey, Nicholas, Sydney, Jordan, James, Isabella and Giovanna; and his great-grandchildren, Julianna, Gabrielle, James, Anthony, Robert, Brooklyn, Dominick and Thomas.

Visitation was Jan. 3 at the Holmdel Funeral Home, Holmdel. A Mass of Christian burial was held Jan. 4 at St. Gabriel Church, Marlboro. Entombment followed in St. Gabriel Mausoleum. For messages of condolence, please visit Jim’s page of tributes at holmdelfuneralhome.com.
