Adele Frances Meny, 89, passed away June 15, 2024, in Rumson, surrounded by her loving family. Adele was born in New Brunswick to the late Frank and Julianna (Bobrowski) Meckowski and spent most of her life in East Brunswick as a longtime parishioner of St. Bartholomew’s Church.
Adele was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Eugene E. Meny, in 2011 and by her son-in-law Kenneth Decker in 2018.
Surviving are her three daughters, Justyna Kilbourne and husband Brett of Rumson, Pamela Germek and husband George of Middletown, and Michele Meny Decker of Fair Haven; her cherished grandchildren, Colin, Thomas, Julianna, Matthew, Emma and Madison; her sister Doris Salamak and family of Manhasset, New York; and many nieces and nephews.
Adele was a devoted mother and Nana. She cherished her family above everything.
She enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe and Mexico. Shopping and a good Scotch old-fashioned were her only vices.
Adele was a strong woman who never hesitated to give her candid opinion but always offered solid advice. She exhibited an excellent work ethic and encouraged her daughters to do the same. Early in her career, she worked for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, then part-time in East Brunswick as a legal assistant. Throughout this time, she continued to pursue her education and, at 46 years old, she earned her Bachelor of Arts from Thomas A. Edison State College. She then began a long and successful career at AT&T in Piscataway as a technical editor and internet tech specialist until her retirement.
She moved to Rumson in 2004 and was a communicant at Holy Cross Church. Her faith was strong and she devoted time to faith formation and the rosary group. She was also a member of the Little Silver Woman’s Club for several years.
Adele was a sun worshipper, especially at Ship Ahoy Beach Club, and loved living at the Jersey Shore with her devoted family.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially the customer service agents at QVC Shopping Network.
Family and friends visited June 18 at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 19 at Holy Cross Church in Rumson. Interment followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
