Louis W. Smith, 75, of Brick, passed away peacefully June 29, 2024, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Brooklyn and, together with his wife Linda, raised three daughters in Leonardo. After his retirement, he moved to Brick.

Louis proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After working in the city for Prudential for many, many years, he switched careers to become a bus driver before finally retiring completely.

Raising his three daughters was his pride and joy and he always put his family first. While he enjoyed trips to Costco, cooking and time with his daughters, nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his two daughters, Colleen (Anthony) Pellegrino and Meghan (Samuel) Kayata; two grandsons, Milo and Brady Pellegrino; and granddaughter Willa Kayata. Louis was one of 15 siblings. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Louis was preceded in death by his wife Linda in 2011 and his eldest daughter Caitlin in 2016.

Visitation was held July 7 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Funeral services were July 8 at the funeral home. Burial followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Louis’ name to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
