It is with profound sadness that the family of Catherine Elizabeth Oliver of Denver, Colorado, announce her passing Aug. 12, 2024, after a lengthy illness.

Catherine was born Nov. 5, 1992, in Sleepy Hollow, New York, to Ouida and Scott Oliver. Catherine’s family moved to Middletown in 1999. She graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in 2010 and earned her Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Among Catherine’s many accomplishments in her short life were competing as an elite trampolinist in the Junior Olympics and captaining the gymnastics team at Red Bank Catholic and leading them to the state finals. As if her schedule wasn’t full enough, she was a lifeguard and swim coach at Waters Edge Beach Club in Sea Bright.

Among her other talents was making custom meaningful crystal jewelry for family and friends that enhanced their personal auras and were cherished by all who were lucky enough to receive them.

After graduation, she worked as an executive assistant and private chef at Jim Russell Enterprises of Denver for 9 years.

Catherine was predeceased by her loving brother Ian Oliver, her uncle Roger Thorpe, her maternal grandmother Dorothy Thorpe of Central Square, New York, and her paternal grandparents, Ronald and Marion Oliver, of London.

Catherine is survived by her mother and stepfather, Ouida and Christopher Stone of Middletown; her father Scott Oliver of Guatemala; her grandmother Marjorie Stone; aunt and uncle Marg-El and Brian Duncan; cousins Nina and John Beatty; great-cousins Colette and Valerie; her aunt and uncle Julie and Colin Smith; cousin Bradley Smith of Margate, England; and her beloved cats Gucci & Biggie who were rescued by her from the ASPCA.

Those who knew Catherine, her joy, infectious smile and kind heart and soul, are asked to write a memory and bring it to her celebration of life, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank and will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and light dinner.

In lieu of flowers, please consider adopting a furry friend from the ASPCA or a donation to the organization in Catherine’s name.
