Terry Lee Long née Lyons, 77, passed away peacefully Oct. 21, 2024, at CareOne in Wall Township. She was born Feb. 4, 1947, in Beaufort, South Carolina, to Anna Josephine (Scala) Sagraves and Stanley Thomas Lyons. She grew up and spent most of her life in Red Bank, Middletown and Neptune.
Terry built a diverse career that showcased her dedication to helping others, from her early clerical work at various companies, including the Credit Bureau and Concurrent Computer, to her award-winning service at Citibank in Shrewsbury. She later pursued education to become a legal secretary, serving at three local law firms with the same exceptional warmth and empathy that defined her professional life until her retirement.
She is survived by her son Lester S. Long and his wife Jacqueline Long, her daughter Tara Lawner and her husband David Lawner, and by Lester H. Long, the father of her children. She was the cherished grandmother of Victoria Long, Samuel Lawner, Jacob Lawner, Katherine Long and John Long, and also leaves behind many beloved friends and family.
Terry had a passion for technology, particularly enjoying computers, games, photography and genealogical research. Her love of music and natural curiosity enriched both her life and the lives of those around her.
A memorial with prayer service was held Oct. 29 at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
