It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nancy Lynn Farr announced her peaceful passing Oct. 30, 2024, at the age of 72. Born Jan. 7, 1952, and raised in Lincroft to parents Richard and Dorothy Winters (who passed in 2002), she raised her family happily in Fair Haven before moving to Middletown. Nancy graduated from Middletown Township High School in 1970, obtained her Bachelor of Music Education from Monmouth College in 1974 and filled her years with love, laughter and a passion for music that inspired everyone around her.

She met the love of her life, William Donald Farr, while playing keyboard in her band in 1970. They were engaged on Christmas Eve 1973 and were married at Christ Church United Methodist Sept. 22, 1974. Nancy and Biff happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago and lived every day in love.

Nancy persevered over adversity her whole life. She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 5. She spent her second- and third-grade years homebound in a wheelchair in an attempt to slow down the progression of her illness. She overcame so many hurdles and lived a full life, accomplishing so much in her time here.

As a dedicated piano teacher, Nancy shared her love of music with countless students, working first in public school, then teaching music to children with disabilities, then to private students, nurturing their talents and instilling in them the joy of creativity. Many wonderful hours were spent at her piano practicing and playing some of her favorites, such as “Misty” and “All I Ask of You.”

Beyond her musical talents, Nancy had a remarkable gift for crafting. She could crochet a beautiful blanket in no time, each stitch a testament to her patience and love. Her hands created not just beautiful items, but also lasting memories for her family, as each creation was imbued with warmth and care. The benefits of her work extended beyond her family as she produced so many hats and blankets that she donated to those in need.

Nancy truly cherished her time spent at home, especially by the pool, where she delighted in watching her grandchildren swim and play. Grammie’s laughter and encouragement filled those sunny days, creating a haven of happiness and family togetherness.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, William Donald Farr, and her two children, Melissa Dale Bernardelli of Abingdon, Maryland, and Amy Lynn Farr of Pennington, as well as her four grandchildren, William James Bernardelli, Adrienne Marie Bernardelli, Rowan Maria Farr-Perez, and Breogan Theodore Farr-Perez, who will carry her spirit in their hearts forever.

Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love for family that will continue to resonate in the lives she touched.

A celebration of Nancy’s life is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA in her honor.
