Carol R. Wade

706

Carol R. Wade passed away peacefully Dec. 10, 2024, at Brandywine Assisted Living in Shrewsbury where she has resided for almost five years.

Carol lived in Little Silver for most of her entire married life. She and her husband Art purchased a new home in Crest Village in 1951 as one of the original homeowners of the neighborhood.

Carol was born in Orange to Edwin and Elisabeth Reed. She graduated from Montclair High School in 1947 and attended six weeks of college before coming home and marrying her husband, Arthur S. Wade, her neighborhood sweetheart.

Carol was an incredible seamstress, knitter and needlecraft worker. She worked at Baskin’s Fabric Fair as a manager for many years in the 1970s. Her hobbies included needlecraft, from needlepoint and quick stitch to counted cross stitch. She called it her “color by number” and worked on her projects endlessly and with great joy and pride. Her family and friends cherish her works of art.

The family spent every summer at Sandlass Beach Club in Sea Bright where she also went to the beach as a child. Annually, the family would travel to Indian Lake, New York, in the Adirondack Mountains to enjoy a week or two in that relaxing region with two other families. Those memories at the lake bring family and friends great joy.

Carol was predeceased by her husband Art in 1998, her son Doug in 1999, her son Chris in 2023 and her daughter-in-law Karen in August of this year. Surviving are her daughter Barbara Richards and husband Dave of Little Silver, her granddaughter Jennifer Wade and husband Eric Senrud of Seattle, Washington, and grandson Zach of Seattle, Washington.

Services will be private at a date in the future. Donations in Carol’s memory can be made to Alzheimer’s New Jersey, 425 Eagle Rock Ave. Suite #203, Roseland, NJ 07068.
