It is with heavy hearts that the family of Keith J. DeVita of Shrewsbury announced his sudden passing at age 59. Born Oct. 3, 1965, in Newark to Michael DeVita and the late Carol DeVita née Oschwald, Keith lived a life filled with love, laughter and devotion to his family.
In 1993, he married the love of his life, Sharon Featherstone, and moved to Shrewsbury where they built a beautiful family. A dedicated and loving father, he cherished every moment with his three children. They were his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.
A man of deep loyalty and passion, he found joy in the music of Creed, their lyrics resonating with his spirit. He was also a die-hard fan of the New Jersey Devils, cheering them on through every victory and defeat. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to celebrate his team.
Keith was predeceased by his beloved Nanni Anna Oschwald and his uncle, Milton Oschwald. He is survived by his devoted wife Sharon and his beloved three children and their significant others, Dylan DeVita (Julia Murawinski), Samantha DeVita (Glen Boehme), and Catherine DeVita (Leo Huerta), and his siblings, Valerie Weidenfeld (Steve), Mike DeVita (Donna), Dean DeVita (Connie), Drew DeVita (Renee), and Daryl DeVita (Cindy). He is also survived by his cherished mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rosemary and John Featherstone, his brothers-in-law John Featherstone (Linda) and Chris Featherstone (Jaime), and his sister-in-law Katie Featherstone-Gmahle (Tim). Visitation and a service were held March 1 at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Keith may be made to the American Heart Association at heart.org.
Keith leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. His memory will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him, like the lyrics to one of his favorite songs:
“With arms wide open,
now everything has changed
I’ll show you love, I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open”
