Nancy C. Herman

Nancy C. Herman, mother, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt and friend, died peacefully May 2, 2025, after a six-week struggle. Throughout that period, she was lovingly encouraged and sustained by her children, her husband, former and current pastors from her beloved Tower Hill Church and by the prayers of her many friends.

Nancy leaves behind her high school sweetheart and husband of 55 years, Daniel; her children, Shaun, Seth (wife Karen), Rachel, and Jeremy (wife Lindsay); her grandchildren, Dylan, Renata, Miles, Caleb and Jacob; and her brother Don (wife Janet) and nephew Scott and nieces Lauren and Alyson. She also leaves behind her many friends and friends of Bill W.

Nancy was raised in South Orange and graduated from Columbia High School. She attended Wells College and Kirkland College and received her bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University. Nancy was extremely intelligent, strong-willed, sensitive to the needs of others, forthright and honest. She was dedicated to her church, serving in several roles, including as a deacon, deacon moderator and head usher.

Nancy had several jobs in her lifetime but her greatest joy in life and her all-consuming occupation was raising her four children. They live on today as a testament to her brilliance and dedication.

Nancy was always guided by and sustained by her relationship with and faith in her loving God. She was extremely sensitive and was deeply troubled by injustice and man’s mistreatment of his fellow man and the Earth God gave us. She made every place she lived more beautiful. It was one of her many gifts. Heaven is perfect for Nancy. She will be sorely missed.

A celebration of life will be held for Nancy at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Tower Hill Church, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank. A reception will follow in Webster Hall.
