LITTLE SILVER – Is there a Clark Griswold in Little Silver? Someone who goes all out on the lighting and decorations for the holidays? Dec. 5 will be the time to find out, as the Little Silver PTO presents its annual Lights of Little Silver fundraising event.
From 5 to 8 p.m., community members can “experience the magic of Little Silver’s most festive night,” according to the PTO’s website. The event includes a guided bus tour of the entrants’ houses and a holiday bazaar, all to benefit the school’s parent-teacher organization.
This year’s event is presented by 1663 Market at Sickles Farm. It’s the staging area for bus pick-up and drop-off and will host the bazaar in its greenhouse.
“The Little Silver PTO kindly approached us because they thought our space would be the right size for their event,” said Dennis Devine, co-owner of the market. “Our garden center will be transformed for the holidays anyway and will be the perfect place for their event. They also wanted to highlight that the market was back open and they wanted to have the public back in here.”
Little Silver residents can enter their homes into one of four categories to win lots of fun prizes. The bus will ferry attendees around town on a guided tour to view the lights, after which they can vote for their favorites.
Before and after the bus tour, you can browse and shop for holiday goodies from local vendors at the bazaar,
“We will have many holiday offerings,” Devine said. “We have trees, greens, holiday decorations, as well as culinary offerings, games for kids and 40 different vendors that will be showcasing their products. We’re setting up a large tent to accommodate the people who will be here. It’s a great way to partner with the community.”
Buses leave every 15 minutes beginning at 5 p.m. and tickets are timed. Each $20 bus ticket includes a voting booklet and a digital map. You can also purchase a digital map for $35 if you’d like to drive around town at your own pace. All proceeds benefit the Little Silver PTO.
If the prospect of looking at lights and doing a little local Christmas shopping aren’t enough to get you out to the event, Devine said 1663 Market has another draw: “Our new coffee bar will be open by then. We’re excited about that and the entire event.”
