Ethel Milazzo

It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Milazzo announces her passing Nov. 22, 2025, at the age of 91.

Ethel Lillian Fliszar was born in New Brunswick in 1934. Known as Nana to most, she loved entertaining, solitaire, theater, baking and, most importantly, cooking. She was a strong, proud woman whom it was thought would outlive us all because of her strength and independence.

Ethel did it all, from graduating from the New School Culinary Arts Program in 1980, to raising two beautiful, kind daughters, Gloria and Nicole, to being the best nana to her grandchildren and everyone she met along the way.

Ethel will be remembered in a multitude of ways: for her potato chip cookies, the scratch-off tickets she gave out every Christmas, her delicious chicken noodle soup, and the love that she brought into many lives.

Ethel’s humor is something that her family will cherish most. They are thankful for all the jokes and shared laughs she brought to her friends and family.

Ethel is survived by her children, Gloria and Nicole and her husband Matthew, and her grandchildren, Charley, Dylan and Emma, who will miss her dearly.

Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Dante Milazzo; her son, Dante Michael Milazzo; her parents, Matthew and Ethel Fliszar; and her siblings, Frank Fliszar, Mary Ster, Joseph Fliszar and Helen Simon.

Visitation was held Nov. 30 at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Burial was private.
