Margaret “Peggy” Ann Schleimer, age 69, of Colts Neck, passed away unexpectedly April 18, 2026, at her home.
Peggy was born Dec. 15, 1956, in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Ann and Patrick Cox.
After working as a secretary in New York City for 10 years, Peggy devoted her life to raising her children. For the past 40 years, she was committed to creating the best life possible for her husband and children, as well as for everyone she encountered. Peggy served on multiple PTAs and was always a class chaperone and class mom. She embraced every volunteer opportunity with love and enthusiasm.
Peggy loved Disney World, Pooh Bear, and visiting flower farms, but more than anything, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an incredible host who brought people together to celebrate every special occasion. Peggy was selfless, kind-hearted, and deeply devoted to others. She was everyone’s first phone call and showed up for those she loved, every single time.
Peggy had a remarkable way of making every person she encountered feel seen, valued and deeply cared for. Her presence brought comfort, her words brought reassurance, and her actions spoke volumes about who she was. Whether through a thoughtful phone call, a warm meal, a listening ear or simply showing up when it mattered most, Peggy left people better than she found them.
She carried a quiet strength and an unwavering generosity that touched countless lives, always in ways she never sought recognition for. Peggy’s kindness was not occasional. It was constant, woven into every part of who she was. She gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly, and in doing so, created a lasting impact on her family, her friends, and her community. The love she shared continues to live on in all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Peggy was a devoted fan of the New York Rangers and New York Knicks and loved watching games with her children. She cherished time with her family and always put others’ needs before her own.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Robert (1977) and her nephew, Jeff (2021).
Peggy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Walter. She is also survived by her five children: Kaitlyn, Frank, Bobby, Krista and Maddie; her two daughters-in-law, Amanda and Lauren; her sister, Mary; and her grandson, Patrick. Grandmother was a role she had recently been promoted to with the greatest joy and love.
Visitation was held April 22 and 23 at Clavin Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 24 at St. Patrick’s Church, Brooklyn. Peggy will be buried at Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Ave., Staten Island.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in Peggy’s honor to National Wheaten Rescue, Inc. at nationalwheatenrescueinc.org.
