William A. Schlamp, 79, known to family and friends as Bill, passed away May 5, 2026. He was a kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend whose presence brought warmth and steadiness to those who knew him.

Bill was born May 8, 1946, on Staten Island, a son of the late Arnold and Jewel Schlamp. He was raised in the Sunnyside neighborhood, where he built the foundation of a life marked by loyalty, hard work and love of family. It was there that he met the woman who would become his wife, and the two were married Oct. 11, 1969. They remained in Staten Island until 1978, when they moved to Middletown.

For many years, Bill worked as an electrician and took great pride in his trade. He was a member of IBEW Local 3 out of New York, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic. Through his career, he contributed his skills with quiet dependability and earned the regard of those who worked alongside him. He approached his work with the same steady character that defined every part of his life.

Bill was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching games on television and was a loyal Steelers fan. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on from the sidelines, where his support was always felt. In his younger years, he could often be found on a golf course, enjoying the game and the time spent outdoors. He also found great satisfaction in working in his yard and gardening, where he took pride in caring for the home and surroundings he loved.

Above all, Bill was a family man. He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Lois Schlamp, and their two children: daughter Kristin and son-in-law Vincent Gallo, and son Bill and daughter-in-law Renee Schlamp. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Sean and his fiancée Karen, Kayla, Vincent, Chloe and Kylie, as well as his great-granddaughter, Adelynn. His family was the center of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Knutsen.

Friends and relatives paid their respects May 11 at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A service concluded the evening and a private cremation followed.
