Alfred James Golden, 91, passed away peacefully May 11, 2026. Born Aug. 22, 1934, in Jersey City, Alfred was raised there and carried throughout his life a deep love of family, loyalty, and hard work.
Alfred attended William L. Dickinson High School before continuing his education at Saint Peter’s University, where he studied accounting and earned his CPA. His dedication to education and strong work ethic became defining qualities throughout his life.
Alfred began his accounting career at Haskins & Sells in New York City. After several years in accounting and financial services, he joined Dean Witter Reynolds in 1978. In 1982, he was appointed deputy director of operations, a role that led to his promotion to director of operations in 1985.
In addition to his accomplished financial career, Alfred was a respected and influential leader within the securities industry. He served as chairman of the Operations Committee for the Securities Industry Association. He also served on the board of directors of the National Securities Clearing Corporation and the Options Clearing Corporation.
Alfred was also a mentor to hundreds of young men and women beginning their careers on Wall Street. He took great pride in helping others succeed and was admired for his guidance, generosity and leadership.
In 1960, Alfred married the love of his life, Antoinette Frank. Together, they built a devoted marriage and a wonderful life centered around family. They raised their three sons in Matawan before moving to Colts Neck in 1983, where Alfred was known as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Alfred also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family. He especially loved his weekly round at Pebble Creek in Colts Neck, followed by a burger and waffle fries at Huddy’s, where everyone knew him and always welcomed him with a smile.
Alfred’s favorite times were spent at his beach house during the summers, surrounded by family and friends and enjoying the beauty of the Jersey Shore.
Alfred was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Mary Golden; his brother, Terrance Golden; and his sisters, Dorris Muller and Lillian Pedati. He is survived by his sister, Ursula Corio.
Alfred is survived by his beloved wife, Antoinette; his sons, Gregory Golden and his wife Fran, Shaun Golden and his wife Cathy, and Alfred Golden and his wife Kelly. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Gregory, Matthew, Shaun, Ryan, Alfred III (AJ), Addison and Gracie. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Alfred will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his strength, kindness and the love and guidance he gave so freely throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the family he loved deeply and in the many lives he touched over the years.
Alfred will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His warm smile and twinkling blue eyes will remain forever in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
Visitation was held May 14 at Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 15 at St. James Church, Red Bank. Entombment followed at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
