RED BANK – Be Barow, vibrant activewear with purpose, hosted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Oct. 17, at its premier location at 66 Broad St.
The event was open to the public and included refreshments, kids clothing decorations, a hip-hop dance class and music and dancing with DJ Skillz.
Honorees for the event were Sumy Chang, M.D., a Monmouth Medical Center breast surgeon, and Kellie Enstrom, vice chair of The Women’s Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center.
In addition to offering a selection of women’s activewear, Be Barow has a mission to actively support local women in the community and is donating a portion of the proceeds to The Women’s Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center.
“As The Women’s Council for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center approaches our 20th anniversary, we continue to grow and expand as a dynamic force in our community,” Enstrom said. “We are so grateful to Be Barow, and share their mission to actively support local women in the community. We are committed to helping women become more knowledgeable about important health issues, as well as supporting critical programs and projects to ensure the Leon Hess Cancer Center continues to stand at the forefront of providing the most extensive array of highly advanced cancer services, delivered in the most supportive and compassionate environment.”
The Women’s Council was founded in 1995 by Bonnie Levin, a cancer survivor, and a concerned group of women in the Two River area, who identified a need to inform women about the importance of early detection of cancer and the progress being made in cancer research. As a group, the organization believes women can make a difference by celebrating their collective power.
“It is our mission to raise funds for the Leon Hess Cancer Center as it continues to provide state-of-the-art services for cancer diagnosis and treatment. Since our inception, more than $2 million has been raised for the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center and we offer our sincere gratitude to Be Barow for supporting us in our mission, and supporting those in our community affected by cancer,” Enstrom said.
