Albert Edwin Burdge Jr., 90, of Little Silver, died Sept. 27, 2023. He was born in Neptune and resided in Little Silver for 84 years. Ed graduated Red Bank High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1953; he was stationed in Panama.

Ed and his wife Sandra married Oct. 9, 1955, and raised their four children in Little Silver. He and his father owned and operated Burdge’s Garage in Little Silver for 76 years. Ed joined the Little Silver Volunteer Fire Company in 1966 and was chief engineer for over 20 years.

Ed was a charter member of the North Jersey and Tri-Counties chapters of SPAAMFAA. He was a past president and director of the North Jersey Chapter and director of the Tri-Counties Chapter. He was a member of the NJ Fire Museum & Fallen Firefighters Memorial; he was a longtime very active member and served on the board of directors for more than 20 years.

In his spare time, Ed enjoyed restoring antique fire trucks and apparatus.

Ed is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Sandra, and his children, Bonnie Braun and her husband Joseph Braun, Becky DeVore, Albert Burdge III and Theresa Burdge. He is also survived by grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tabitha, Lauren, Austin, Michael, Frank, Vanessa, Lena, and Iliana and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Oct. 5 at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at Thompson Memorial Home, followed by graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, 49 Church St., Little Silver.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the NJ Fire Museum & Fallen Firefighters Memorial, 4 Polhemustown Road, Allentown, NJ 08501 or to the Little Silver Volunteer Fire Company.
