Aldo Giovanucci, a Korean War veteran, business owner, NYFD member, and family man died Aug. 24, 2023. He was born Oct. 7, 1928, on Staten Island.
He is predeceased by his parents, Ferdinando and Lina Giovanucci and his brother Ronald. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rita Bruno Giovanucci, his daughter Linda Bonnette, his son Thomas Giovanucci and wife Dana, and grandsons, John, Thomas Richard, Christopher and William and wife Adriana. He also leaves behind a 2-year-old great-granddaughter Gabriela, a step-granddaughter Rose Signorile, ad a cousin Joan Gallagher, and several nieces and nephews who reside on Staten Island and New Jersey.
Aldo served during the Korean War after which he worked for Western Electric as an installer on Staten Island. He then joined the New York City Fire Department where he served until retirement. He established a real estate business on Staten Island which he operated until 2017. During that time, he received various construction awards.
In 1985 Aldo and his wife Rita relocated to Rumson. While he enjoyed growing and maintaining his Staten Island real estate business, his family was most important to him. He looked forward to spending time with his grandsons, taking them jet skiing, to Yankees games and car shows. He also loved boating and was active in the Shrewsbury Yacht Club, Navesink Country Club and Jumping Brook Golf Club.
Aldo, in his quiet and humble way, helped many people in need. Besides his family, Aldo will be missed by those friends and caregivers whose faithful visits and attention were a great source of joy and comfort to him.
Following a Mass of Christian burial at St. Martha’s Church in Sarasota, Florida, an interment ceremony will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery. At a later date, a memorial service will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Red Bank.
