Grace F. Alexis, 98, of Belford, passed away peacefully Nov. 23 at Bayside Manor in Keansburg. She was born and raised in New York City and moved with her husband James to Staten Island where they raised their family.
Grace worked as a secretary for P.S. 55 in Staten Island. A lifelong faithful Catholic, Grace placed God at the center of her life. She had a special devotion to the rosary and was very active in the pro-life movement. Grace cherished her family and six generations were blessed to have known her love and care. She loved music and was rarely without a song on her lips and in her heart.
Grace is survived by a daughter Marie Alexis of Medfield, Massachusetts; a daughter Graceanne (William) Montanus of Belford; a son James J. Alexis of New Hope, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James in 1981 and her grandson Paul in 1987.
Visitation was held Nov. 27 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A service took place at the funeral home Nov. 28 and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Chapel, Middletown. Burial followed at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
