Alice Bull Kearney, 71, of Shark River Hills, died Dec. 26, 2024 with her loving husband Michael by her side.

Alice was the fifth of seven children of Arnold and Alice Bull. She was born in Plainfield in 1953 but was raised in the “Sunken City” section of Middletown. It was a noisy, loving household filled with teenagers, tweens and toddlers. Alice was a favorite: petite, bright, witty, fun and funny. She loved deeply and unconditionally – animals and humans alike.

She attended St. James Grammar School and graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in 1972.

Alice spent most of her career serving others, first as a safety manager at Naval Weapons Station Earle and then at Fort Monmouth as a member of the CECOM Safety Office, working with the Army National Guard in all 50 states and U.S. territories to ensure the safe management of radioactive material in their weapons systems. She retired after 36 years and was presented with a U.S. Flag that flew over Fort Monmouth in her honor to commemorate her last day.

Alice was predeceased by her parents and her brother-in-law, Drew DeGanahl. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael R. Kearney, her stepson Michael Pershes (Clifford), her grandson Jonathan Pershes, and brother-in-law James Kearney. She is also survived by siblings Barbara Murphy (Tom), Eileen D’Alessio (Anthony), Kevin Bull (Mary), Linda DeGanahl, Kristina Vince (Victor) and Thomas (Marybeth). She was a favorite aunt to 15 and great-aunt to over 20. She was well-loved and will be missed by many.

Visitation was held Jan. 4 at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Monmouth County SPCA at monmouthcountyspca.org or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
