Alice Naves Marques

Alice Naves Marques, 84, of Belford, passed away Nov. 8. Alice was born Sept. 10, 1936 in Santo Antônio do Amparo, Minas Gerais, Brazil. She emigrated to the United States in 1984 and lived in New York City and New Jersey. In 2001 she moved to Belford with her daughters, where she lived until her passing.

Alice enjoyed cooking and dancing. She was always the life of the party! Alice could always find the best in any situation and in any person. She could boost anyone’s confidence with her smile and compliments. Her family was the most important part of her life. Alice will always be remembered as a loving and caring woman. 

Alice was predeceased by her husband Eduardo da Silva Marques and her sister Antonia Naves.

Alice is survived by her three daughters, Rosangela (Gerardo Lawson Sr.), Rosana de Souza Marques, and Raquel de Souza Marques (George Klodin), along with her son Raul Marques de Souza. Alice also leaves behind five grandchildren, Gerardo Jr. (Shanta Lawson), Adrianne, Ana Carolina, Ana Claudia and Isabella, and four great-grandchildren, Guillia, Bianca, Natalia and Davi. She also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends and family may pay their respects Friday, Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will conclude the afternoon and a private cremation will follow.
