Andrew F. Stevenson, 96, of Union Beach, passed away peacefully May 17, 2021, with his family by his side.

Andrew was born Sept. 15, 1924, and raised in Kearny, a son of the late Jennie and Andrew Stevenson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 29th Infantry, during World War II.  After the war, he met his wife Evelyn and they were married in 1953. Shortly after, in 1956, they settled in Union Beach where they would remain after raising their family.

Andrew was a PSE&G driver at Linden Generating Plant for over 30 years. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and fishing. He was also known to tinker on cars. Over the years, he and Evelyn took many road trips visiting spots across the country. Andrew will always be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and a man who had a personality that everyone was drawn to. 

Andrew was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Stevenson, in 2019 and his brother Robert in 2012. He is survived by their two children, daughter and son-in-law Jeannette and Patrick Pecchia of Port Monmouth and son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Catherine Stevenson of Cliffwood Beach. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Drew, Michael and Erin and her fiancé Andrew Heller.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 20, with a funeral service immediately following at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford. The burial and committal will take place at Shoreland Memorial Gardens in Hazlet.
