Arlene A. Massa, 81, of Freehold, passed away July 4, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Arlene was born and raised in Brooklyn. She graduated from her local high school and shortly after married the love of her life James. The two settled in Brooklyn.

Arlene was a dedicated mother to her children but, after they had grown, she went to dental assistant school and started a career later in life, something she was very proud of.

Arlene enjoyed trips to Cape May and Cape Cod, crossword puzzles – always completing the New York Times version – decorating her house, and having her family over for Christmas with her famous lasagna.

Arlene is survived by her loving husband James Massa; her children, Marion Kamens and her husband Chuck, James Massa and his wife Christine, Annette Massa and Kelly Laino; her sister Annette Carlo; her grandchildren, Jamielee, Robert, Lindsey, Nicholas, Jordan, Giavanna, Sydney, James and Isabella; and her great-grandchildren, Julianna, James, Anthony, Dominick, Thomas, Gabrielle, Robert and Brooklyn.

Visitation was July 7 at the Holmdel Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was held July 8 at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. An entombment followed at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum.
