EATONTOWN
The First Presbyterian Church of Atlantic Highlands and the Hope Presbyterian Church of Tinton Falls will conduct a joint worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Walcott Park in Eatontown.
A picnic will follow the service to which all area Presbyterians are invited. Members of both churches are invited to contribute food for the picnic.
The Rev. Paul F. Rack, pastor of both churches, will present a sermon entitled “What Kind of Authority?” According to Rack, “After telling a parable about a wicked king, which leads the disciples to question the nature of kingship, Jesus tells another parable, this time about wicked tenants, to lead his disciples to question the nature of authority, rethinking the Parable of the Talents from a different perspective.”
The pastor also will administer Holy Communion during the service.
The Atlantic Highlands church will resume its scheduled 11 a.m. services on Sunday, Aug. 10 and then will worship at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17 at the gazebo at the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Yacht Harbor, with a picnic to follow. All area residents are welcome to attend.
