MIDDLETOWN – The township held its 66th annual Veterans Day Parade under sunny skies, mild temperatures and lots of waving American flags Sunday, Nov. 5. Sponsored by VFW Post 2179 and the township, the parade honors veterans from all military branches.

Participants assembled at Bayview Elementary School and the parade stepped off at 1 p.m. The approximately 2.3-mile route took veterans, elected officials, Scout troops, marching bands, emergency responder teams and more down Leonardville Road through Campbell’s Junction, onto Cherry Tree Farm Road, then Wilson Avenue, and finally onto Garrett Place, ending at the rear entrance to VFW Post 2179. Residents and other community members lined the parade route to enjoy the firetrucks, music and patriotism.

Announcements about the groups participating were made from a podium at Strollo’s Lighthouse on Leonardville Road.

Refreshments were served immediately following the parade.
