Richard M. Barrett, 58, of Neptune, passed away peacefully while watching his beloved Giants on December 18 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. He was surrounded by friends and family. “Richie” was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lived in Bergen County most of his adult life before recently moving back to the shore area. Richard worked as a sales trader for Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers, before retiring in 2001.
Richie proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Continental Drum and Bugle Corps in high school. Richie was an avid Giants fan and loved attending the games with his family. A devoted family man, Richie will be most remembered for his loyalty, generosity, big heart and sense of humor. He will be sorely missed.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Doris Wilton; a brother, Barry Barrett; and a niece, Kristi DuBrosky. Surviving are his son, Scott Barrett; daughter, Jacqui Barrett; stepdaughters, Rachel and Gessie Lesser; two sisters, Bonnie Brown and Jeanne Barrett- DuBrosky.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, December 22 at 10 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown. For more information or to send condolences, please visit www.pflegerfh.com.
