Bernard M. (Bernie) Sheehan, 80, of Middletown, passed away March 24, 2023. He was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, and lived in Keansburg before retiring to Shadow Lake Village in Middletown.

Bernie worked as a shipping manager for CoSteel Raritan. He was a member of the VFW Post 4303 and the Goodfellows Social Club. Bernie was an avid golfer, but he loved nothing more than spending time with family.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Carol née Croken; daughter Peggy (Auggie) Murphy; son Robert (Denyse) Sheehan; six grandchildren, Connor, Mason, Rylie and Ellie Sheehan and Dylan and Liam Murphy; sisters, Joan (Jerome) Leary and Ellen Kelleher; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charlotte and Bernard Sheehan, his brothers, James and Martin Sheehan, and his beloved grandson, Aidan Bernard Murphy.

Visitation was held March 29 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral service was held during visitation at the funeral home.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30 at the Hazlet VFW Post 4303, 18 Davern Ave. All who wish are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Bernard’s name to the VFW Post 4303 scholarship fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
