Borden, Eileen Sagurton, Age: 71, Red Bank

Eileen Sagurton Borden, 71, of Red Bank, passed away Sept. 20 surrounded by her family at Jersey Shore Medical Center. Eileen was born in Long Branch and raised in Fair Haven.

Eileen was a graduate of St. James Elementary School, Red Bank Catholic High School (’65) and Monmouth College (’69). Eileen was a teacher in the Rumson School District for 38 years. From a young age, she had a passion to teach and fulfilled this by instilling a drive in her students to read and write with confidence. She always had a special “storybook” with unique life stories for her students to relate to and remember.

Eileen is predeceased by her parents, Francis J. and Mary L. Sagurton. She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Jack Borden; her son, Joseph F. Frenchick; her sisters, Mary Ann Durr (William T.) of Middletown, Rita Herman of Rumson and Frances Seaman of Boca Raton, Florida; and eight nieces and nephews.

Besides teaching, of her many enjoyments were cruises to the Caribbean and Bermuda. She was an avid reader and compulsive about the daily crossword puzzles. Her ability to “concoct” a recipe to her liking was phenomenal.

A Memorial Service was held Sept. 24 at St. James RC Church, Red Bank. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the National Kidney Foundation.

Thompson Memorial Home in Red Bank has been entrusted with the arrangements.
