Susan Taylor Byren, 77, of Rumson and Jensen Beach, Florida, died suddenly on Thursday, April 14 in Jensen Beach, Florida. Susan spent her life raising her children and living close to her friends and family, never far from the shores of the Atlantic.

Susan was the daughter of HF Taylor Jr. and Mimi Taylor, and grew up in Media, Pennsylvania. She attended Mary Washington University, class of 1960, moving to New York City after graduation to work for Citicorp. She shared her summers with family and friends in Ocean City, where she met her husband, John Byren.

Susan and John began their family in Medford, before set- tling in Rumson in 1974. Always known to be outgoing and welcoming to all, Susan spent her years enjoying the beach and being part of the local community.

She was predeceased by her brothers Horace Furness Taylor III and Timothy Dwight Taylor as well as her sister Mary Elizabeth Taylor Borel. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, John; their loving children, John F. and his wife Arleen and Elizabeth Kelleher and her husband John. Also surviving are her brothers, John Taylor and his wife Linda, and J. Steven Taylor and his wife Hollis; her sister, Ann Laverty and her husband Michael; her adored grandchildren, Drew, Will, Taylor, Kyle, Jack, Grace and Nicole; many nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Scott Borel.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Susan’s life at Rumson Country Club from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 23.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harbor School, 240 Broad St., Eatontown, where her grandson Kyle is a student. Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, is in charge of the arrangements.
